Oh well, one of the comments made under the article was right on the money. Why start from scratch with a new Silvia/concept when they could bring the S15 over, or maybe even an S16… rather then starting from new.

Good point. I’d rather have the older cars or a new car built on the same chassis - screw new, heavy, computerized cars…I just hope they bring some sort of $20k~ RWD coupe here in the near future.

meh.
if it was going to look anything like that design study in the article, then good riddance!
i like what Nissan is doing with it’s Infiniti line, style-wise, (G37 coupe = pure hotness) but besides the GT-R and new 370Z, there isn’t a single current factory Nissan design that i like.
but who knows, maybe these projects will both be resumed once this recession is over.
PS Nissan no longer makes the SR or the KA, correct? i wonder what engine they would have put in the “S16”? keep in mind they’d have to compete with the likes of the Genesis Coupe, so i’d think it would be something small (4-cyl) and turbo…it just wouldn’t be a true Silvia with an NA V6 or anything like that…(although if they wanted to make a true 240 successor, they’d just use the motor out of the Frontier :P)

m-eh just wait 5 years import a s15 and convert it to lhd. everything on the s15 is the same as the s14 except body panels,interior and tranny. ta da
look where the brake,clutch cylnder is
cf dash, some asian company sell these dashes as i recall

I’m not sure if they still make it or not but the SR20VET out of the Jap X-trail would be a sweet upgrade.

It was obvious that this was coming. But think a little… do you really think that Nissan would scrap an idea?
They just put the work on hold. The same goes for Honda with the NSX and maybe even the new S2K. They are just waiting for the right time to unviel there work/concepts.
If the public know’s that they are working on something new and heavily popular such as a Silvia successor, wouldint they be pressured to get it finished? Why else havent they said much about it in the past (before the world went into this b.s recession)?.
Think about it.
Also, don’t count on them making an S15 rendition. Everyone should know by now, Nissan loves to change designs like maaad. Look at the S12-13-14 and 15. They always changed in BIG ways. Lets just hope it doesent look like utter shit … **cough cough_altima coupe_cough**

i don`t think they make sr`s or ka`s any more but the ka was still being used a couple years ago in the small trucks so they would still be able to produce them with the same mold(cheap price on final vehicle)

and yeah martino ka turbo would be sweet but that might require a reconfig of the ka block internals for better strength

It would be much easier and cost effective for Nissan to just not work on it than work on it and hide it from the public. They can make some piece of shit tiny safe fuel efficient car for the same money and sell it twice as fast and to a much larger market. What would you do?

actually ,the sr is still produced by nissan ,as well as the rb ,but not for any current models. instead they are produced for the company Tomei, in different states of build .you can buy from mild to wild , so you can still buy them brand new if you got the dough . so yeah these engine by no means , have seen the sunset yet.
