If you want an SE-R spend the money and get an Altima SE-R its a much better, much sexier car. And the Sentra has the worst gauge cluster in the world.

ty they changed that cluster now. They finally made a all black interior and got ride of the stupid shift linkage and knob. It has the boot you pull up like the 2001-up maxima for reverse. The brembos are good and the new bumber looks good with the factory lip. No one seem to buy the lip or the brembos.

SER = Hecho en Mexico

And you get exactly that. The fit and finish is nowhere near Japanese quality.

You’ll get a lot of rattles, squeaks and other taxi cab noises.

I like the cars, don’t get me wrong. I just think they’re overpriced for a Sentra. Bottom line, that’s what is, whether it makes more power or not.

Just like the SRT4 at the end of the day is still a Neon … or SX2.0 if that makes you happier.

Whether you buy an econobox or an econobox with a hotter motor, it’s still econobox. If Nissan made the Sentra too well - SER or other, no one would buy the Altima.

When you sit in a Sentra at the dealership and notice all the plastic and somewhat bathtub-inspired cabin, you can feel the “cheap”. That way, when you sit in an Altima that costs $10gs more you go “Ooohhh … that’s why this costs more!”

Truth be told I’d rather have a bone stock Altima with a 5spd over a Sentra SER V spec.

Same motor, nicer interior, better styling, bigger and it doesn’t “feel” cheap. Probably end up costing about as much as a used SER too.

I’d get a used altima with the VQ and a manual box rather than an brand new spec v, probably in the same price range.

but your dead on about the cheap feel. I still like sentra’s tho.
