Sounds like too much BS to get into with a manual trans.

I like to keep my car in gear when I park it as well, so it will never work for me.

Tom did a great job installing a compustar on my old f150. I miss that car, and that setup, it was very trick.

It had manual locks, and he put actuators in each door to unlock and lock the door with the remote…

> On the one I saw installed you follow a specific shutdown procedure that allows the remote start brain to know the car was in neutral with the ebrake set when you got out of the car.

> 1. Put car in neutral, set ebrake, remove key, car stays running.
> 2. Get out of car, lock doors, car turns off.
> 3. As long as no door is opened the brain knows the car is safe to remote start. If any door gets opened before the car is started the brain disables the remote start because it’s possible the car got put in gear.

It’s even rigged up so if you hit the trunk release it turns on the rear defrost/mirror defrost (expedition didn’t have an electronic trunk release so we used the button for something else).

Mike @ inn-tune doesn’t do this anymore. Just an FYI. If you buy this from an “authorized” dealer, Compustar (first tech) has a lifetime warranty on all parts.

We stopped selling Compustar. The remotes kept failing on everyone on the one 2 way model everyone wanted. To help customers out I would swap broken ones for new ones I had in stock and then send the damaged ones to Compustar for warranty. I gave 9 total away. Compustar screwed us by not warrantying ANY of them. I lost a ton of money on these because the warranty became me buying remote after remote for our customers to try and help them out. I only started selling Compustar because I was told they worked great by several people. What a huge mistake that was! That said, when they did work they worked great. As soon as we married each new alarm to the system it went right back to normal. If they ever get their quality down on the remotes they’ll be good units, and maybe if you buy it from a shop that does a ton of business they can force Compustar to honor their factory warranty.

Good luck!

Yea I don’t know why those remotes kept dying like that, and it wasn’t just one or 2 it happened ALOT. the unit itself was always good…just those remotes…
