A gay candidate has a better shot at being elected than a atheist. News would have a field day with a person who has “no morals” and all the extremes that can take that too, including but not limited saying that he believes in random things such as FSM. Just being of different denomination of Christianity such as Mormon is going to be a big issue in this current election. ---

She knows she got me dazing cause she was so amazing and now my heart is breaking but I just keep on saying…” Really? As far as I’m concerned some of the most stand up individuals I know are believers and it overall makes you a better person. Which is exactly why an atheist will have no shot at an oval office. I agree with slwthnu to a point. I don’t think god or religion should have any place in school or government. However I don’t think less of somebody because they choose to believe in a higher being. ---

Religion aside, it’s just sad that a patriotic anthem is replaced with some lame pop song. Plenty of other beautiful songs about America if you really were worried about offending people. I don’t even begin to understand why they would choose something like that. This country wasn’t founded to get rid of god, nor was it founded solely on the basis of religious freedom. It was the belief of our forefathers that in order to ensure liberty and justice for all that our government could not be allowed to make laws pertaining to religious belief. I really love this country and have great respect for our religious past. I think christian morals had a strong impact on the creation and early success of this nation. As a non-believer the word god still has a symbolic meaning to me, especially in relation to our country. ---

That aside, I agree with you that it should no longer have its place in a pledge or on our money given this country is made up of so many diverse cultures, you can say what you want about what this country was founded on, who “real” american are etc, but it doesnt matter, the flood gates were opened and theres no turning back this country is made up of so many different people and backgrounds ---

Totally agree with slwrthnu. Look at Yankee Stadium, in the heart of the most liberal city in the country, they play God Bless America every 7th inning stretch. You know why? Because they want to. They’re a private organization. If you don’t like it, don’t buy tickets. School on the other hand, you don’t really get the option. ---
