i think its a good idea u have josh.
however, u need to compromise this idea…people did leave ubrf because the mods were fags…
i 100% agree with some of the mods decisions on here when they put their foot down, but often certain mods on here act like internet nazis of a small wny forum.

this is why (which has been said in prior posts in this thread)

1. controlling posts and topics in gen auto and every other section is good
ex. i forget to search a topic and post something that has been posted…rx3 PMs me and tells me…toda would have banned me
2. off topic is where anything is acceptable…the ONLY rule in OT, is knowing what is NWS and what is alright for the main OT section.

> Keep in mind, the founder himself (Howie / Daddie) posts in Off-Topic a lot (from what I’ve seen). If anything, I’d say Howie is a single-source cross-section of the members of the site. He drunken posts, he posts technical info, he posts random videos found around the internet, and he posts about his new USB missile launcher.
>
> If everyone was more like Howie, the whole site would be just fine.

were u wiping howies man juice off your face when u wrote this? THE MAJORITY OF MANKIND IN ANY FORUM DOES THE SAME THING :bloated:

Not sure where all this confusion is coming from. Anything (legal in real life) goes in OT. Tech posts go in technical. Non-tech automotive posts go in gen auto. Keep on topic in non-OT threads or risk moderator intervention. Keep on topic in OT or risk getting flamed, or moderator intervention if things turn nasty.

Is it really that complicated? :gotme:

Haha good point. Without the pesky trouble of actually doing automotive things we get to focus on and talk about our feelings. :gay3:

We’re also in the winter doldrums. There’s not much interest in cars. A certain few have winter projects, but most put their cars in storage. 🙂

> all these fucking people crying about the site need to get some balls or something… If you decrease funny drama in OT, you eventually lose the people that post some tech and some OT… i still don’t know who you are trying to impress by having a nicely run tech based forum with 4 members who occaisionally post…

I agree 100%.

I think some people need to take a good look at General Auto…its basically O/T for cars.People asking what to get…what rims, what parts…etc.Cars that are being released,OMG I saw a \_\_\_\_\_\_\_ car on this road.I agree that people SHOULD post in general auto more because it requires the same amount of thought as off topic does and its mostly opinion based. When someone comes along with a car with lackluster potential I can give this great piece of advice…“Dont put alot of money into it,buy a new car”. Me personally,im into domestic V8 stuff (mostly older, some newer) and domestic threads are quite uncommon to come by.So I’ll be sure to frequent general auto more and state my opinion about a car someone spotted on ebay or how someone abused a car and riced it out.

I’d even go out on a limb and say that the forum with the most “tech” discussions on this site is the huge nerd corner.

I honestly could become more involved in the Technical talk too,dig up some links from google and dump them _BAM_ im a Techie.

Just remember…

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

i dont want to be bringing this back because its partially dead but if you want the new guys to think this is a strickly tech forum, make them think it is. dont allow them access to off topic till there post count hits a certain number where you can tell there here for cars and not just to post useles crap.

Word. My car is off the road for the winter… and I have nothing to talk about it.

I don’t post much in the General Auto section cause I’m a noob when it comes to cars. I don’t know much about them, that’s why I’m on here to learn. I might post more in OT, but I read more in GA.

i dont know if i post anything people think is worth while, but i can say that nothing is more agravating then when you are reading through a gen auto or tech thread and run across a set of 5 or 6 posts with 2 or 3 members making jokes about each other and completely not addressing the topic of the thread. i mean i like to read a little joke in threads here and there, like if the thread was “my car wont start” and the reply would be “try checking this or this, or maybe your retarded cause you blah blah blah” its just a nuisance(sp?) when the replies are “wow you are dumb, gay gay gay, omg your gay”.

I was going to bump this thread, but someone did it for me

Almost 300 more members later, we still have a problem.

You know how hard it is to actually get automotive minded members to stick around here? Say I tell someone _“Hey, you’re into cars - check out [NYSpeed.com](http://NYSpeed.com)!”_ So they sign up, look around and don’t see much automotive stuff going on - and it’s not because there isn’t any, but all the non-automotive stuff dilutes it out. _“WTF? I thought this guy said this was an automotive forum? I’m out…”_

:gotme:

I’m trying to do my part since I support Howie, but 'cmon guys…
