The environmental thing is a nice plus, but the real money maker on the deal is the national security aspect. Do you know what would happen if Russia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc. were to up and decide that they are no longer going to sell us any of their oil? $4.50 gasoline would seem like the bargain of the century. It would go up to $20 per gallon, there would be huge shortages, riots, looting, the economy would grind to a fucking halt, etc. Do YOU feel comfortable having the countries mentioned above having us by the balls? I don’t. If we could increase the average MPG of all vehicles by a 1 or 2 MPG is would be a HUGE impact on the disparity between foreign and domestic oil.
