It’s just that they wanted more profits. That’s their job. That’s what they’re going to do. Union or not, you’re never going to get a worker in the US to work for 14 hours a day, for less than a few dollars a day. Corporations are not “job creators” therefore, they will ALWAYS go looking for the cheapest labor possible. Even if it means exploitation. As a matter of fact, they are starting to have “problems” in China already.
