There’s always someone who has it worse. That doesn’t mean that what we’re not in a bad situation. Just because you were in Buffalo when the snow started to fall doesn’t mean you have a clue. Obviously. Yeah, it was snow in upstate NY. That’s not the problem. It’s the large amount of freakishly early snow that tore down trees that had been standing for 100+ years. It’s the inability to heat our homes. It’s the sewage pumps that stopped working and are under water. It’s the lack of potable water. It’s the ambulance I watched get stuck in the street in front of my house while transporting an old woman on oxygen. Its the people bailing water out of their basements for days straight trying to save the things they’ve worked hard for. Sorry if your tax dollar goes to helping those in need for once rather than helping people abuse the welfare system and avoid contributing to society as usual. A lot of us cannot afford to have a $500 dollar generator just in case a once in a lifetime disaster happens with NO WARNING. You see, it wasn’t a lack of preparation. Saying that anyone who lives where it snows should have a generator is like saying everyone in NO should have had their own life boat. Don’t worry about your tax money. You’re demonstrating exactly why you’re not allowed to decide where it goes. Just because you’ll never have a time of need where the government will help you out doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t have government help. You’ll be fine. So will we. Here’s the other thing. We’re not just up here sitting on our thumbs waiting to be saved. It’s neighbors helping each other clear the rubble. It’s the community members bringing hot coffee to those standing in line for a generator to give their families heat. It’s the neighborhood cheering for and sincerely appreciating the hard work of the electricians going above and beyond to restore their power. It’s the electricians working 24/7 through snow, wind, and rain to restore the Buffalo electrical infastructure. It’s all of us doing what we can to help each other get through this. So on behalf of all of us in Buffalo who are banding together to get through what is more than a little snow and a couple of tree limbs and need a little government help, how about you STFU? ---

i don’t complain about it much. others had it much worse that I did. my only event was a trip to the hospital with the wife for 14 hours saturday nite. only to be sent home again. no baby, just a lot of painful contractions etc… still too early for the Dr’s to do the c-section. oh, my car did stall on the way home from class thursday nite becase my air filter (mounted way to low) was packed with snow and my worn summer tires made the drive an adventure.😃 and i have a flat tire. ---

i fucking loved this storm and hope it happens once a month. granted i did not experience so much dispair through all of this (i have friends who are awesome and give me a place to stay) but i still had a tree fall on my brand new truck, have not been able to live in my house since it started, and have a wicked cold. could be worse, could be better, blah. everyone (especially those who say we have nothing to complain about here in buffalo)should just shut the fuck up and go pick up some sticks…sitting here and having an opinion is about as worthless as my nostrils right now. ---

Well I’m still without power. I just cleaned my whole fridge out. I would have to say I tossed about $300 worth of food . Steaks, Ribs and so on… Thats really my only complaint is all the money I’m out now… To this date I still have not seen any god damn power company trucks doing any work near my house… It’s really starting to piss me off… And to all those say we have nothing to bitch about and so on… Your right we really don’t… But can I come over to your house and take all the shit out of your fridge to replace all my food? If not, then shut the fuck up. ---

Trying to get home friday morning, my car got stuck at the corner of my street. So I bust out the big, badass snowblower my roomate has, and an hour later, I snowblew a path down the whole street so I could get my car home on a donut, because I had a blowout thursday night. Got home to no power. Made the short trek out to Grand Island and stole the generator from the timing truck 🙂 . Only problem is that it only puts out 7 amps, so I could power the fridge, tv, and PS2 (everytime the fridge cycled, it rebooted the tv, but the PS2 stayed on!) So we played God of War for 3 days. The cable came on a 7:45, just in time for the Sabres game! Power came back Sunday night. So I don’t have any complaints, really. Other than the snow ripping the mud guards off of my car. Delaware Park and the Zoo look like shit, though. ---
