i heard Conklin will get the start again tomm. i guess hes earned it tho, considering 50 saves is ridiculous. i assume he’ll have to wait for the weekend since there is back to back games.

ya, i agree. its tough to knock Conk for how solid he is. i really wouldnt know what to do right now, long term. Conklin is a gamble, but you cant argue his performance as of recent. IF we did decide to stick with Conk for the rest of the year and beyond, that would free up alot (4-5 mil) of money to put elsewhere (ie: Hossa) if we opt to not sign fleury. but its kinda hard to imagine not resigning him after investing so much.

I totally agree. I think in the mean time you give the starts to the better goalie and then evaluate at the end of the season. aka after the cup

Well here is the deal…Conklin is a $500K guy…he is going to want a starting goalie contract. I THINK the Pens will want to stay with Fleury. I know the remainder of the season may sway that but I think a clue is we are keeping Sabo up (so far). That way we don’t lose him trying to send him down to the Baby Pens. I want to see how they are going to split the remaining games of the season. Is it going to be sort of a 50/50 or are they going to ride Conk until he cools off. I would be surprised if they stay with Conklin and let Fleury go…but then again I think everyone was surprised when they got Hossa…so time will tell and it will be interesting.

why do you say that? Fluery hasnt played 1 game this season as well as conklin has been playing.

Not how I feel…but how I think the team will make it’s decision. It is hard to fault Conklin’s play at all so far.

If we do decide to stick with Fleury, shouldn’t we at least be able to get a good trade for Conklin if we keep Sabu?

Conklin is a Unrestricted free Agent…so he is free to go. We have first dibs to break a deal, but that’s about it.

honestly, i think we could keep Conk at a great price , assuming he plays well for the rest of this year and that wa the route we decide to go. even if he does do great, i dont think there is gonna be a ton of teams throwing high dollars at him to lure him their way. Fleury has that draft pick and name value, yougn age etc on his side, regardless.

i’m looking forward to seeing hossa play tonight, just wish crosby was back in the line up to see them together. I heard roberts now has a high ankle sprain and probably wont be back.

I’d be lying to say I wasn’t skeptical. Hossa is awesome, but a Stanley Cup isn’t ever guaranteed. I’m hoping for the best so that this trade makes Shero look like a God.
