Probably from your lack of a google device. Nexus 7 tab, doesn’t really count if you’re not using latitude or location services. Notice you can opt out and delete your location history. Personally I think it’s pretty neat.

To add, google also allows two factor authentication if you (\<-- general term) are paranoid about your privacy/info.

Kinda sorta, they all integrate with maps. Maps, Latitude, Local, etc.

Try out the flight cards.

They should be enabled by default, but were they perhaps disabled or chosen to not be shown. /noobquestion

In the settings it says it pops up cards for flights if you searched for that flight before.

I feel like such a noob, but I just figured out the offline maps thing. You can go into maps, pull up a location/area and hit settings - make available offline. Then it lets you select the area which you would like to download maps for. There is a limit to the size you can select. I tried getting the entire state of north carolina and it wouldn’t let me. So now I am downloading the entire state in chunks.

holy fucking fail

“the USSD code to factory data reset a Galaxy S3 is _2767_3855# can be triggered from browser like this: \<frame src=“tel:_2767_3855%23” /\>”

That would hard reset a S3 with no user interaction

ok, so my phone is doing the same self-smushmortion thing it was doing last time where the OS just runs in some sort of crazy loop and sucks my battery like a high priced hooker.

Is there a dummy edition of rooting your phone?

Yeah, it’s called buy an iPhone.

What I’ve learned in my couple weeks in the Droidiverse is that if you’re not willing to read and tweak, read some more and tweak and read a whole lot more and tweak this is not the mobile OS for you.

It’s the Unix of the mobile phone world. Great if you like reading, tweaking and dealing with complete assholes who shit on anyone not willing to read as much as they do.
