> Damn VZW/GSIII update screwed my phone. Speeds drop from 50Mbps/20Mbps at work where I have strong 4G signal to unable to run a speed test 5 miles down the road at my house. If I’m lucky and I drop to 3G it isn’t so bad, but I shouldn’t have to hope for 3G…

New patch released late last night. Much better connection speeds and battery life. We’ll see if it stays that way…

> Where are you at? I’m an engineer at VzW and I have never seen any speeds over 30Mbps! I can’t speak much on the Gs3 update, most of that is dealt with down at HQ/Samsung.
>
> On a positive note though, we’re almost finished with the 4G data center in Rochester and Syracuse, so you should see a nice increase in speed and decrease in latency soon! (once Samsung comes out with that bug fix for your phone of course haha). Right now all our 4G data traffic is back hauled to regional centers in Boston and Connecticut (10Gbps SONET paths)

nice, im a business account exec at vzw in central pa!

i regularly see speeds 30mbps and above using speed [test.net](http://test.net), its great showing customers their speed via a website and beating cable speeds over the air, cant wait til volte whenever that comes

My S3 does the same thing. Reboot and it’s fine until it randomly decides it’s time not to get a GPS lock anymore.

This seems to be something with androids GPS. we often get customers emailing us about how they cannot get a GPS fix with our company’s app’s on a wide range of devices. I reply back telling them to reboot them phone and it usually works.

Incredibly aggravating with RunKeeper. You can either not get a GPS signal or it screws up in the run and your time and distance is all off. Then you’ll go months without having an issue.

I’ve been having the same issue with my Droid X since pretty much since the day I got it. Sometimes it takes seemingly forever to lock GPS, other times it requires the reboot.

Just scooped the new S4 Active on AT&T’s 50% off sale for $99. Basically a water and dust-proof S4 and the only trade-off is an 8MP camera (with underwater mode) vs. 13. Sign me up!

Best backup program for a non-rooted phone? I’m looking to wipe my Galaxy Nexus as it’s getting slow and don’t want to lose everything. I know I can’t backup apps but I’m just looking for something that’ll cover everything else and preferably upload them to Drive/Dropbox.

Depends on the app and what you’re doing. I bought the premium version of that, but I think the standard version might be enough for you.
