New Belgian is the brewing company they have a quite a few good beers. Skinny Dip and Fat Tire are my favorite from them.

I like their original stout a lot more, but with the 250’s higher alc content, and the fact that it tastes like Blueberry to me, I felt it would go well with dinner tonight.

Here’s a couple of my personal favs
Paulaner Hefeweizen - A great german hefe with just the right amount of banana/clove esters
Ommegang Hennepin - A pretty solid saison
Rogue Chocolate Stout - This is an awesome beer for after dinner. Goes down super smooth and is full of chocolately goodness. On a side note, why is the chick on the label so ugly?
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout - This is one of my all time favorite stouts. You can pretty much find it at any major grocery store now such as Tops or Wegmans. Great beer.
And I can’t forget Alternative Brews Hazelnut brown (Brewed by Custom Brewcrafters) - A great nutty brown ale, too bad you can only get it in growlers (Alt. Brews or Amherst Alehouse)
And for anyone looking to get drunk on decent beer for super cheap, Budweys in Kenmore had a deal where you could get 2 Michelob Wheat Beer sampler 6 packs for $3. I bought about 16…
It includes shock top, their dunkelweiss, and a honey wheat. They aren’t the best but it beats drinking light beer (in price and taste).

1. Red Hook Long Hammer
2. Pale Ale.
3. Denver Co.
4. I like a lighter beer. Long Hammer has a smooth taste with little to no after taste. Usually imported beers (Blue and Molson) give me that foamy burp once in a while. Long Hammer actually helped settle my stomach during a meal. I usually have a beer when I eat at a Hamburger/Hot Dog/ Chicken Wing cook out but you could have Long Hammer with a Steak diner. Very good choice IMO.

Good to hear. I bought some of the Long Hammer a cpl weeks ago, but haven’t cracked one yet.

Most recently
1. Blue Point Toasted Lager & Hoptical Illusion IPA
2. Lager & IPA
3. Blue Point Brewing Company, Long Island (local microbrewery)
4. The lager was excellent. A little on the sweet side. The IPA was alright… not really a beer afficianado(sp?) yet… trying to get there… if it tastes good, i’ll keep drinking
Some of my favorites:
1. Samuel Smith Organic Lager - I just love the taste of this. I dunno why. Seeing it more and more at the local supermarkets
2. Old Speckled Hen - an English cask ale… had it on draft at a local bar/eatery… need to go back
3. Anything Japanese ie. Sapporo, Kirin, Asahi…
Honorable mentions:
1. Magic Hat #9 IPA
2. Weihenstephan Hefe
3. Hoegaarden White Bier
4. Lindeman’s Lambic Frambroise (raspberry)… does this count? It’s a little girly… but it tastes soooo good with certain foods
I’ll have to try some of the other ones in this thread… i usually drink liquor but enjoy a beer every now and then
There’s also this one belgian beer that I had… can’t remember the name of it for the life of me… it was a tall green bottle (almost wine bottle sized) with a yellow label, had a swing-top cap similar to grolsch … i think it was an ale…not too sure. anyone know what i’m talking about?
EDIT: i found it… it was a Saison Dupont Farmhouse Ale… amazing!!!

Maybe someone can help me here. Last time I was at Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester, I had a Scotch Ale and it was superbly delicious. I cannot remember who made it though. Anyone know who makes a scotch ale?

Strangely, even though I’m a bit of a beersnob, the XXX is sorta like…I don’t know…a childhood beer before I learned what really good beer was. Anyway, that and PBR are sorta the anomalies in my fridge.

heh…there are literally hundreds of Scotch (and Scottish) ales brewed. The real common one you’ll see out is made by Sam Adams.

its ok jason, i still love budweiser
flying bison makes a pretty good scotch ale. rorbach (sp) is really good, its brewed in rochester so that kinda makes sense. they sell it by the growler at beers of the world in roch

Sam’s Octoberfest, my favorite beer. So mad I can’t get it year round but it’s the one thing that helps me through summer withdrawal.

Ya I figured. I just thought someone from Rochester who frequents Dinosaur may know what I was talking about. It definitely wasn’t Sam Adams. It was a brewery I hadn’t heard of.
