Every time we’d start getting some momentum tonight Ottawa would take a penalty and then it was over for us. I’ve said it all season… I don’t understand how this team can look so good 5 on 5 then fall apart 5 on 4. Special teams COMPLETELY made the difference tonight. Our penalty kill sucked, and our power play sucked even worse. 5 on 5 we looked good most of the game. Gotta do something about special teams or this is going to be a short series. This is where Lindy should come through. He was coach of the year last year, and here’s his chance to earn it this year. I’m still saying Sabres in 6. ---

i definitely think sabres will take it in 6. they just need to keep it together during power plays. ---

i didnt think the sabres played that bad of a game. they didnt play a good game, but it certainly wasnt horrible. like said above special teams was the difference. Ottawa has a deadly powerplay. We need to figure out our power play and stay out of the box. If those things are resolved, and quick, i believe the sabres will this series. ---

Another 40 min effort goes unrewarded…go figure. I wish it was like the NFL and they could decline penalties. God help our PP ---

reason i said they deserved to lose is because of their powerplay efforts if you cannot score let alone you give up 3 breakaways resulting in 1SH goal then yes your team deserves to lose. their overall effort was great but they played like shit. ---

just got back from the square, lots of people there. our special teams were horrible and thats the main reason y we lost. the turnovers didnt help either ---

If Max got benched for a game last series for turning the puck over, Khalinin had better not be in the fucking lineup for game 2. He turned the puck over every other time he touched it, including the assist on their shorthander to open the scoresheet. Bring on Paetch. ---

Khalinin was kinda responsible/involved in the first 3 goals for Ottawa… Yeah special teams killed us. 5 on 5 we got that ---

special teams for the fucking loss 2 PP goals, 1 SH goal and then the giveaway for ottawas 3rd and eventual game winner…what the fuck was that we completely outplayed them 5 on 5, and yet again our PP fizzles and we let ottawa romp all over us with special teams and ANOTHER FUCKING SHORTHANDED GOAL when oh when will we learn to put TWO FUCKING DEFENSEMAN ON THE POINT ON THE POWERPLAY AGAINST FUCKING OTTAWA…2 breakaways on the first PP b/c of connolly not being in proper position. if our PP is going to BLOW, at least make it less bad by putting two people who can play defense out there…sigh… ---

Didn’t read anything anyone else said about game one… but… 5-2 did NOT reflect the game at all… I think we were on top the whole game… small things lost it for us. games 2 thru 6 are a sabres wins… ---

I don’t know what the hell is wrong with the Sabres special teams right now. They had 4 powerplays in the the first 30 minutes, that is nearly a third of the game to that point and they managed 1 shot!! At this point if I were Ottawa, I would be taking penalties to prevent scoring chances by the Sabres because they are actually less effective with a man advantage. Turnovers will be the death of either team. ---
