They werent going for times, They were taking the first passes with no helmets and after rolling through the start would floor it… youd see the bike spin a little and slant from the torque ---

So, at a normal track, or any other track I’ve ever been to, gates open at xx:xx, track employees inspect and prep track at xx:xx, and time trials are called up at xx:xx, with eliminations starting at xx:xx. At this track, gates open the night before for a few people to camp out and drink. Then they’re technically closed, although maybe not physically closed. Then the next morning, when people show up to race, the gates are then blocked by Lucky, on his scooter, until Sheriff Buford T. Justice’s son gets on the Ford tractor mows the pits. Then a dude with yellow teeth, bandana and beads in his hair starts walking down the row of cars taking money from most people and stamping them with their version of a “no fault” clause. You get two stamps in a “T” pattern if you’re driving. Then you go park in your grassy pit area, and set up whatever it is that you’re going to set up. At some random time, a person parked next to you in a gorgeous red '67 Chevelle will just drive up through staging, no helmet, cigarette hanging out of the mouth, and just drive over the burnout area, through the staging area, and cruise down the track. At this point, a few other cars will do the same, in no order, sometimes 3-4 cars at a time. Then the drag bikes, ridden by guys in shorts and no helmets, possibly wearing flip flops. Finally, Lucky calls people up for time trials, again, in no particular order. When there is a lull in the action, Lucky will start singing Elvis tunes over the PA system. And at the end of the festivities, Lucky can be heard saying something like this over the PA: “ok, so I’m calling all of the drivers left in their classes, because this should be the final round…I think. We’ll see when they get into staging.” Again, I LOVE this place. ---

Fun time for sure until my PCM too a shit on the pass vs. Bill. car went stupid lean like 14s afr’s. I might have hurt something in the motor at the same time, I taking it apart now to check. That smoke was oil pouring out the back of the intake onto the headers in the high RPMS because I blew out the gasket the day before on the dyno lol/ I’m burnt and ticked about my car breaking but its ok. It was fun and a good time. Lots of banter and southern slang thrown around. I think Choda almost had a date with Mrs. Lucky at the snack shack hahahaa ---
