What caused the impeller to seize and strip out? Any idea?

My guess is the prev owner ingested a lot of seaweed or some other object.

This much I understand…however, I am not entirely certain how it will change the performance…me thinks not too much…but we will see…
Josh, my impeller was a bit dinged up…not terrible, but my mechanic thinks that the PO could have been in some low water and took something in that caused it to get lodged/stuck, etc…
Paul, thanks man…it is getting exciting, as I am now getting through all the systems, and really understanding the machine pretty well at this point…

definitely sucked something up.
@91MR2 unless is a drastically different spec, you’ll probably notice a few MPH difference on top end and slightly different take-off speed.

Took mine out the other day with some friends, ordered 2 performance items for it yesterday. Wastegate block off plate and a SCOM. And my REG sticker and decals came finally so i don’t get the odd looks from coast guard.

@HouseS2K looks like in that picture you’re beached right next to the marina where I kept mine last year (Island Marine.) Jerry the owner is a cool guy if you ever need gas / work done.

If you are swapping impellers now would be a good time to rebuild the jet pump and replace the oil. You can get kits with the parts. I would also check and possibly replace the wear ring also. I believe the xp impeller should physically fit but will not be optimal for that ski… Plus I would buy the $15 solas tool to make tightening the new impeller easy. The bearing and seal kits should be about $50. If the old jetpump oil is clean and you don’t have play in the jet pump shaft you can get away with just changing the pump oil with the seadoo oil or 75w-90 gear oil without rebuilding if you want to save the $$$…

Thanks man for the info. Everything seems tight and solid, with no play. I plan to change the oil tomorrow, as well as put everything else back together…hoping to hit the water by tomorrow evening, or Friday…

Holy crap I’m sore. The waves today were not the 3 feet they said… more like 10 feet plus! Incredible day to ride. :tup:
It was funny watching small boats turn out to the lake, only to head right back in after being thrown around. I can’t believe there wasn’t a small craft advisory. Only one boat managed to stay out for more than 2 minutes (about @JayS sized) and I watched it get nearly air born, lol.

It’s fun on a jetski but it beats you up, ripping around in 4-5ft waves… But after 45 min you’re exhausted lol.

Lol I can only imagine watching you guys out there again. I really need to redo my pump. I think I might just hold off till winter unless I can get some side jobs.

I see this happen a lot when we go to the lower river. We’ll hang out and fish by he coast guard station on windy days and you watch boat after boat get to the mouth of the river and hit the massive chop on Lake Ontario then immediately give up and go back to the river. It gets especially bad right there with the way the current from the river hits the waves from the lake.

We did almost 2 hours… I’m loading up on pain killers, lol.
As soon as I drove over the skyway and saw the waves braking over the wall I knew this was going to be good. I really need a GoPro!
