# Oil change intervals? When do you change yours?

I use semi-synthetic so i change mine about every 7,500. I was in england and they change theirs twice a year so I stopped changing mine every 3 thousand and after 6 years and 100,000 miles, i still havent had any problems.

Depending on how often i drive my bmw 5-8k or when i rememner(using full syn)
and about 1500 to 2500 on my gsxr

If it’s a new car I’ll change it at 500, 3k, 6k, 10k, then every 5k.
If it’s a used car I’ll change it when I get the car, then 3k after, then 5k intervals.
The oil type depends on what it has in it when I get the car. If it has regular oil, I’ll do some semi-syn first, then full syn. If it already has synthetic then I’ll just stick with that.
For bikes I change the fluids at 50 miles, 250 miles, 1000, then every 2k, and before and after winter storage.

Once a year. I only put MAYBE 1500 miles on it a year.

Generaly I’d agree with that statement but, if someone drives a total of 3 miles each way in the winter, I would’nt agree. A lot of moisture builds up in an engine as it goes from, say 10f degrees to 210f during warm up, and as the car reaches operating temps, most of this condensation evaporates. If you drive a very short distance, say 1 to 5 miles in the winter, I don’t feel the vehicles engine has gotten fully warmed up enough to properly burn off the accumulated water. After 3,000 miles of this, I bet theres a lot more H2o in the oil than you’d think. Thats why they recommend changing oil on both milage & time intervals. (My 2 cents.)
