# oil pressure - strange sound

Any one else have oil press issues on start up whith redtop SR’s?

When I start up (more when it’s cold) my guage will read 0 then after 1-2 sec it will shoot up and be normal. somthing makes a noise before the oil press shoots up then is quiet. Is my oil pump on the way out or what? My turbo is blowing oil but I have a new one on the way.

Any help

Ive never delt with this but im guessing its taking a second or two for the oil to go through the pipes and hit the bearings, then the oil pressure will rise and it will show on your meter. I wouldnt say its normal but i dont think it should do much damage.

What kind of noise are you hearing? It might be timing chain noise your hearing until you get sufficient pressure. A friend of mine had a similar issue where you would hear a second of chain noise on a cold start. We replaced the tensioner and problem solved!

My low oil pressure light is on for maybe 2 seconds right after i start the car, and my rpms would dip for half a second as well as i hear some clinching noise either starter or timing chain ? always does it when i start it up, especially in the cold or after some hard driving
