Just note: The Bush economy is one that allowed for $5 coffees, reckless spending and an era of radical blue collar spending that wont be seen for a very very long time.
The tradesman in this country made huge money, from the plumber to the roofer.
If you did not make it as a small business owner in the last 8 years, you likely never will.
Small business is where the jobs are. Thats a fact.
America is not full of leaders. So, not everyone will have been a baker making the bread… but if you learned how to bake… you made it.
The difference was in the last 8 years, many people who can’t bake, made bread. Now they bitch cause they didnt develop the skill to make quality bread…which is what this economy of reality will require.
Dont even try to tie Bush to the failed banks or real estate bubble. He was a huge spender, of which I did not approve… but much of his spending made Americas businesses richer. Businesses employed people. We will all pay the price with a normal economy after we get over the big bump we are in…but gone are the days of the average man getting wealthy easily.
This assumes Obama doesn’t turn America to a socialist state.

you “IT” guys are incorrect. I’ve been around block a couple more time than you guys combined. I’m currently a consultant and I’ve been responsible for hiring other consultants. I know the ins and outs of what people really care about. Certifications are a JOKE. As long as you pay for the certification, you get it. Doesn’t mean shit. You are lucky if your employers care about it. I can go spend a couple grand and get 10+ different certifications… woooo!

Not that simple, some of the tests are quite difficult and do require you to know your shit…
The MCSA test is all hands on, if they ask you how to do something, you have to know How to do it, not some bullshit ABCD select the correct one…
you literaly have to be able to go in and do it

you obviously know absolutely nothing about programmers cause every assumption you made is incorrect. You example is outsourcing to india, are you serious? What place around here actually does this? c’mon man… you can do better than that.
I’ve done plenty of networking and I’ve done plenty of programming. Both at school (rpi) and in the real world. You don’t necessarily need a 4 year degree and gobs of experience to land a solid networking job. Programming on the other hand, you do.
I’m not out to say what job is harder or what job is more important or anything of the like… so don’t go there.

I guess it just depends where your looking. Regardless experiance is always better than any certification or degree. But now, in present day your not going to get an IT job without one being new to the field. If your lucky and got in a few years ago, or even when the IT Field first started blooming then your set and for the most part certifications wont and are not going to mean jack shit to you or any employer, but over the past couple years certifications are a big plus to newer people in the IT Field.
Honestly I’ve had the knowlegde to be in help desk/networking since I was 14, I always found it extremely interesting and always kept up and taught myself things. I taught myself how to set up domains with 2 computers and a server in my room. And when I turned 18 and started looking for IT jobs even when I could show them what I could do they would not have it, now that I have certifications I am getting looked at by jobs, I do get responsces as before I wouldent get a damn thing

certs are good if you don’t have experience to back you up, I guess. If you have to lean on your certs to justify your abilities then you usually do not have enough experience and may not be completely confident in your abilities. It’s super lame if you bring in your actual certificates to an interview and mention them over and over again.

certs are a joke IMO, i know a couple “geeks” who are serious idiots, i even know more than them and i didnt even grad fuckin hs (i guess it shows with my posts :D)
at the end of the day, i think you should do you…
going to work for a paycheck in trade for your hours of time building the future for your boss is just a waste IMO and idk how u can be motivated to do so, then again it beats unemployment !
small business ftw IMO i just hope i have the ambition to stay focussed, i def got the brain to suceed but thats hardly even half the battle when your 21 with your own shit

No one brings in their actually certifications, you list a couple in your resume some of the “higher ones” as generally if say your msce certified, generaly you have your mcsa mcdst security+ etc…
no one should sit there an list off A+ Net+ etc… unless the job your looking for wants just an A+ or Net+ etc…

Anyone i’ve known with certs never brings in the acctualy certifications, I have a couple cards in my wallet that I was issued but I do that just for whatever if someone asks me to see them if were talking about them etc…
If the employer wants to see them then they can ask me to fax a copy over, all my certifications and forms affilated with them go in a folder in a box on the highest shelf in my closet. Wear they will stay till moths eat them
You list the important certs on your resume and answer questions if they come up… I dont think your directing it towards me but im not an idiot massa, I may not have the experiane you do or know as much as you, but dont talk to me like im some retard who just went to school and thinks I know everything, most of the stuff I knwo goes from experiance and teaching it myself…
I know some programming, I choose not to do it as I think its boring as all hell, i cant sit their and write code. I know theres good money in it especialy when working for a company makeing propritary software… but to me its not worth being miserable

WTF dude, i always bring in my certifications, my degree, a dog that does backflips and red lipstick in case i need to go under the desk…
oh and all my certs are in a pink 3 ring binder that says Number one Tech with pink flowery paper that the certs are centerred on
