I look at it this way… 50% of people i saw in my classes were asleep, doodling, jerking off ect, ANYTHING except learning. They bullshitted classes, did the smallest amout of work possible to eek out a degree. Online college is something a person pays for, and CHOOSES to do amidst all the rest of what life throws at them. They bust their asses for something they want, rather than alot of little snot nose ass holes who fly thru college on mommy and daddys dime. I speak from attending college. Its not untill grad school where you see people WORK for shit. Undergrad is a joke. I give all the credit in the world to online degrees. you might want to rethink the stigmas attached to them. ---

As long as the school holds a regional accredidation(sp?) then you will be fine as far as transfers go. SUNY has an online school available just so you know. Empire is the name of the school and you will still get in state tuition and TAP while attending this school. I am personally attending this school for a bachelors in Business Admin but I am changing majors I think. Last semester I transfered from Troy Universtiy(I was taking classes online) to SUNY Empire(where I am also taking class online) with no problems at all. I hope this helps out some. My degree (and diploma for that fact) from Embry Riddle’s online program is the exact same one as my friend that got his from going to the campus, but mine took 2 years to complete (3 years worth of work, 1 year credit for previous FAA licenses) and it cost me 23,000. To attend the campus is 40,000 for one year. I loved being able to complete the weeks material on my schedule, and the teachers were all great with only one exception, which was resolved. And when all was said and done, I recieved a 3.7 gpa for my work, not a rock star gpa, but for a guy that did poor in HS it was pretty good. Thats my experiance, you have to be very dedicated to make it work, no one is standing over you and telling you do to the work, you have to be self motivated to do good. ---

A LOT different than going to a school that is strictly online only. From a quick search, Embry Riddle is one of the top aeronautical universities in the country. I would compare U of Pheonix to a devry/ittTech type school. Its better than nothing, and lets you learn about something before you choose to go into career in that that field. Bottom line is that if the OP is passionate about getting his degree, he should get a part time job while in school and stop worrying about driving some sweet car and spending cash on clothes at the mall. Go to school, get your degree, then you will bank cash and not be poor. ---

Yea I am taking 12 credits right now with Empire and they are ok. Some good points and the most important being the obvious one here that just because you want to go to school online does not mean you need to go to a second rate school. Like has been said already many traditional/reputable schools have online degree plans so I say this is your best bet. I do not see any problem working full time and going to school full time. I work around 60 hours a week right now and take 12 cr hrs and it isnt too hard but i probably wouldn’t take anymore. Good luck ---
