> well i thought adding ther ecotec into the mix was appropriate seeing as how the ecotec cobalt surpassed the honda civic on the salt flats for the top speed record i think its 210mph for the cobalt which holds 1st place and 197 mph for the civic which holds 2nd place…

so? that means nothing unless the motors are in the same test car

> wait a second to say K series is overrated is retarded. Its still expensive, but its has already surpassed the B-series for really years now. Stock for stock k20a \> b18c5 hands down. K is still pretty much in its infancy as far as built setups go, but still are making more power than B’s which have been around for over 15 years.

The Stock K20a compared to a stock b18c5 produces higher numbers in large part due to the displacment advantage. K20’s with cams and bolt on’s produce similar hp numbers as comparable 2.0 liter b-series motors. The big advantage to the K is that everything is bigger, potential to go safely to 90mm bore compare to 86mm or so on the B and the K24 block with greater deck height makes the 99mm stroke have a decent rod/stroke ratio. An extreme, stroked b-series 86x95 is nothing compared to a stock k24 (87x99). The new variable cam timing on the K-series is where a lot of power is still to be found, just as on the MIVEC system on the new EVOS.

well rating a motors potential does relate to top speed as a single category

no top speed at bonneville has to do with aerodynamics more than engine power thus totally irrelevent

I agree that the K is a great motor, but we’re talking best of all time. The B has proven itself over the 15 years or so in production. I’m sure the K will phase the B out in a few years, but the B will still be the block that opened the doors. It was the block that opened up the aftermarket for the four cylinder.

The honda b18c5 or the JDM b18c is a marvel of N/A technology. although I’m pretty sure the s2000 is the highest hp/liter 4 cyl evar.

4age is a great motor… lots of potential most of the corolla guys who really mod there car bring the redline in that thing around 11k +

2zzge isnt a bad motor ethier for being 180hp na.

as far as the 3sgte it has the most potential out of all toyota 4 cyl. theres a few 1000 hp mr2s around [mr2oc.com](http://mr2oc.com).

if you are talking power potential from the factory the 4G63 is great. it is an iron block so it weighes 9 gagillion pounds and is the most unreliable hunk of pooo there ever was.

Sorry the B series motor will most likely stay at the top for years to come. how many FWD DSM’s have gone mid 9’s in a street car with FWD?

what kind of crack are you smoking. K series all motor cars are mean but they in no way surpass the B18C5 here in the US. when you can point out a stock K powered car running mid 14’s bone stock then we can say it is better

How many (real) unibody Hondas are in the 7s.
How many Honda Motors are in the 6s. I hate to put the gavel down but case closed.
You are comparing an entire company against one motor don’t forget.

lets also remember that the uni body in 7’s is not on gas and AWD. where are all the low 8 second FWD DSM’s?

Honda motors in 6’s? have you ever heard of the HART civic or the AEM civic?

put it this way there is NOT one street DSM right now that can consistantly make mid 9 second passes. let us also not forget that those motors are 2.4L compared to the hondas B series max of 2L

The last thing i want to do is make enemies on this site but you are just way out of line.
Shep is awd runs on methanol
Brent Rau who RAN a 6.92 is a 2.0 not stroked as well as Shepard.
Also Correct me if i am wrong put this post is about 4cylinders so your AEM is out of the picture and i have yet to hear of the Hart (4cylinder) civic in the 6s.
I think Honda motors are the best to hit the public but don’t act like everything else is garbage.

its sam…it happens all the time,
what i truly dont understand is why you see dsms running 22-25 psi only maken high 3 low 400 hp and u see a honda running 22-25 you get 500-550, i understand loss because of the awd, is that it?

everybody needs to stop and realize how retarded they sound with all there bias bullshit. you can make a point about any motor’s potential. everybody is trying to validate their OPINION by talking about how fast this fuck or that fucks going with their motor and CHASSIS combinations. not to mention your only talking about drag racing. if that’s your criteria than ford is the superior. that’s right ford. i guess nobody remembers the rail car with the coswoth setup huh? with all that said i’m building an all-motor k24frank so that makes honda the best. thats my opinion and you know what, it doesn’t mean shit to anybody just like yours.

Nice…I like my honda too bro, but I don’t think there motors are the best…nor do I think any other(DSM, Nissan, def. not toyota) are any better than them. I’m sure the top dogs of each manufactorer is very comparible.
