# Orange light lit on dash

I’ve got an orange light lit on my dash, only occasionaly though. Its the one on the right of the wiperfluid. It doesn’t have anything labeled over it so I dont know what its for. Anybody know?

Its either battery light, though i thought that was red, or the oil pressure light which i recall is amber. Hopefully its not the oilpressure light because it only goes on when things are fuct.

bat and oil pres are red.
Foz, we need more details as to this mysterious amber light, specifically which exact cluster you are using. If the light comes on at different intensities (i.e., lighter/darker) it could be a low-fuel warning light. Did you change your cluster at any time?

its not the fuel lights, its not oil. I’m using a stock SOHC cluster. The light is on the right of the washer fluid light, and on the left of the Cruise control light… It mysteriously comes on at random times… It has no label.

I had a SOHC cluster, my check engine light was amber - orange - yellow, it was NOT red.
I believe there are only 4 lights
fuel (colour = ?),
check engine (colour = SOHC, amber),
wiper fluid (colour = yellowy - amber),
Battery (colour = red).
Please correct me if ive made a mistake. But i am almost 100% certain that the check engine light is amber, because its on once you put the SR in and are priming the engine, it goes away if everything is working and there is oil pressure … it was a suspenceful minute until it went off.

240foz, … why dont you take a picture of your cluster, and then using microsoft paint, circle the light that goes on.

The check engine light is separate from the low oil pressure and low voltage dummy lights.
Check engine = amber; oil pres and bat = red
IIRC, the only other amber lights are low fuel, low washer fluid, and ABS. Might be HICAS also - don’t know for sure, don’t have it.

Nah, the Hicas light is red, and it’s below where the rear wiper buttons are.

was your car an automatic that was converted to manual?
if so, it could be the Overdrive light flashing…

I dunnon about DOHC, but SOHC clusters only have one light for check engine, and its the same one as oil pressure, … and its orange 🙂
lol, worst thread ever. Someone should be able to bust out a FSM and fix this. And 240Foz, what are you running a SOHC or DOHC cluster?

Hahahaha. It’s the worst thread ever because of a lack of detailed specific information as well as photographic support.
It’s also the worst because there are so many permutations of clusters; makes it hard to come to any meaningful conclusion.
