# Over drive pulley set on A6?

i was thinking about buying a overdrive pulley set… is it worth it… 00 A6 2.7t

You mean underdrive. Do you know what they do? It’s a smaller pulley, which means it’s easier for the motor to turn. It also means that all the other pulleys spin slower. You might free up 2-3 whp, but is a barely noticable gain in power worth spinning the water pump slower on a car with 2 turbos?

besides the small gain you would see…many pullies available arent harmonically balanced which audi seems to think is very important. i cant argue one way or another about it…but just to think about it possibly messing up the motor for 2-3 hp makes the decision an easy one for me. want to get more power? gut your precats.

Ha, oh yeah I forgot that whole unending harmonic damping debate.

Bottom line is it’s not worth it. It’ll be $200+ for a decent set, you’ll gain almost nothing, and there’s a good chance you’ll sustain long term damage.
