# owww. Is speed limiter supposed to hit so hard?

So im coming home tonight and hit an empty stretch of highway.
no were for the cops to be no other cars and I was like, what the hell! I havnt topped out the car yet,(dont ask why i havnt. i dont drive like a grandma just never had the chance) so i just push the pedal to the floor, watching the speed climb, the revs climb, and the noise from my exaust and annoying screaching sound from my sun roof get louder.
so i hit 180 i was like hmm no cut out yet, so keep givin her and about 185-190 (maybe?) Boom no more engine sound for a sec and i shoot forward in my seat, fairly hard to.
Is that normal or is that supposed to be softer

Speed/fuel cuts off at 180. I have no clue how you went past 180+.
You have an analogue speedo so you probablly were seeing things.

Are speedos are not that accurit. Also factor in that if you have differnt size tires then stock. And yes it hits hard, Even harder with boost.

Mine cuts out at 190 aswell and I have stock tire size.
The hard hit is normal.

My KA hit uber hard at like 185 ish
my SR cuts very softly at 196
then i cut the yellow/green wire,
no more speed cut

Haven’t tried it on the 240 yet, my speed cut is HARD on the celica at 180 flat, soft on my mom’s sonata at 185.

i think coupes with hud cut out at 180 and hatch’s 190.

my hud showed 177 when it cut out ☹ maybe b/c of tire size??? i’m running 195/60/15’s

haha, the KA used to do that, 180-190 depending on slope? but the SR has been tuned, how fast? I don’t know, all the way to the 7 on my odometer

No I have a 5SPD ECU I just didnt hook up my 5th gear sensor :lol:

i’ve got an american car with the 115 MPH being the last thing listed on the speedo, slightly past the 180 kph. it always cuts out past the 115, i estimate around 190kph too… im running 205’s in the rear as well so i guess that makes it read wrong too. my cut isnt that bad, the pedal just sort of dies and you slow down and then “ride the speed cut” as we say in etobicoke 😉 \<— DR

I did a 5 speed conversion, why do i still have speed cut then? splain urself
