truth.jpg i HATE HATE HATE palm works with nothing, interfaces with nothing wanna open an excell file? just download this converter, then this 3rd party app that Kind of opens it but the macros wont work, then if you need to make a change just save it, then run it though another converter on your pc, ok now email it… THATS EASY ---

Meh, it doesn’t suck that bad. It’s simple and simple has it’s uses. Not blackberry simple tho. it’s a nice nitch between simple blackberry and all powerful windows ---

If you use it standalone and don’t try to cross platforms, like Zwarbyt described, its a very stable platform. But when it comes to interoperablity with something like Windows, ugh! I grew up on the PalmOS, so I’m more used to the interface, but with some of the things that I want to do with remote documents and the what not, I’m gonna have to go with something running Windows Portable (or whatever the hell MS calls it now :bloated: ) ---

seems like palmhaters hate b/c it’s poor interoperability w/ Windows (to keep things simple, we wont even mention its poor interfacing with OS X as well). palm was developed almost 15 years ago, and though its evolved quite a bit, its still pretty much the same as it ran on the Palm Pilot. It’s an OS platform whose purpose was to organize a person’s life - not to be a handheld computer with multimedia functions. I think the issue here is that the palmhaters are upset b/c they expected palm os to be more than what it was ever meant to be. as far as i’m concerned, there is no fair comparison b/w Palm OS and PPC. This is like comparing apples to oranges. I’m more than satisfied with the capabilities of my treo 650. And if I need the convienence of having a handheld computer that is more Windows friendly, then I will buy a PPC machine. I think the debate here is not whether PPC is better than Palm OS, but which OS is actually better for SmartPhones. In this aspect, based on my usage of SmartPhones of the last 6 years, I’d much prefer the efficiency of a Palm converged phone rather than the bloated, inefficient instability of a PPC phone. ---

It doesn’t matter if it’s Palm or Windows based a phone is as good as the company that made it. It’s all in how the device is setup and what hardware is chosen for that setup, etc… ---

Documents To Go on PalmOS = MS Office Download a converter? Nope. Kind of works? Nope. It actually works. :gotme: It’s NOT Windows. True. It has its incompatibilities, sure. But it does what it was meant to do: be a Personal Data Assistant. It holds my phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, memos, to do lists, shedules, and a bunch of other things it was never really meant to do. Like: play games convert distances, areas and volumes work as an IR remote play MP3s send and receive email double as a USB Secure Digital card reader / writer show photos play video store maps, and follow along with GPS browse the Web via the BlueTooth connection on my cell phone take voice memos All with ease, speed and reliability. Maybe I fear change. Maybe I don’t want to have to refind my favorite Palm applications for PocketPC (if they exist) or suitable replacements (if they don’t exist). Maybe I like rooting for the underdog. ☹ Edit: And like Dennis said, it seems PalmOS is the more reliable / easier to use OS for Smart Phones. I can’t imagine my phone crashing during a call, or missing a call because Windows was rebooting. :eek: ---

ive used both and palm sucks. sure its simple, but thats its down fall. it doesnt do anything… it hasnt changed. its the same garbage i was bitching about when i bought my first CE 2.0 device. you can get more, and better functionality for the same price with a windows mobile device. ---

As always, Howie comes in and ends it all. 😉 Honestly though, it’s an OS. Mac vs. Windows is a dead issue, as is Palm vs. PPC. It’s about the user’s preference. I’m on both sides because I could see myself wanting a PPC-based handheld someday. If I could play WMV and Flash files, that would be one more use for my PDA.
