# pci-express vs. agp

im building a new computer and just wanted some input. Do u think its better to go with a motherboard with pci express or agp8x? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Pci-express, although not as much is available for it you & more cost. It will offer much better long term upgradability. That, and if you like nVidia over ATI, the fact they are incorperating SLI (Basically allowing 2 cards to act as one like in the old days) is quite tempting too.

you dont need 2 cards to use a board with SLI right? but it can be upgraded to - 2 cards… if i understand the technology correctly?

PCI-X is faster, AGP is cheaper. If you don’t play a lot of games I’d save some money and go with AGP. If you don’t play any games, I’d save a lot of money and go with on-board video.
