vB is about $300, hosting is about $720 a year + domains, we bought a blog software that never got used for a few hundred dollars. Consider the first issue of the Shift518 paper as part of marketing - a few thousand in that. Shift spotted cards - a few hundo as well, first ChillnGrills sponsored by solely me are part of marketing as well.

Or did you think this was all free and powered by unicorns and entirely stress free?

This is a thankless business that takes more time to run than a full time job and usually simply ends up being your own expense.
