newmans car was picked because it’s newman, mikes car was picked because he works with onyx, and iank took the pic, idk why the mini cooper was picked? i think just because he is a sponsor, and the mustang was picked because he was at the swerve customer appreciation week and onyx just probably wanted a “muscle car” picture

See this is why the cars that are up there, are there. Because they were taken by people with nice cameras who know what they are doing, also probably why they abandoned the old wide banner and allowing user submissions.
If you want your car in the upper left, ask Josh if he would be interested, if he says yes, ask IanK if he wants to shoot it.

I was kinda kidding alittle bit about my car, i didn’t expect that picture to be used, although i dont think you need a 15MEGA PIXEL CAMERA for a photo that will end up so small anyways…

It needs to be crips, clean (no glares or bad dark spots), in focus, and have the correct colors at least.
Nobody wants to look up there and see a shitty out of focus car that was shot in bad lighting.

It is empty for not much longer. We are moving to an entirely new site when we make the server move. Newish skin (based off of this one), new software, new header, new everything.

We didn’t pick anything specific. Just a few cars that looked goo up there. It as done based on user submission a long while ago during the development of this skin.

Which is exactly why you aren’t doing the image selection. The shot preparation, equipment, post production and all the little details from those combined are what make the shot worthy of being in the upper header.

I hope they incorporate that in the new images they will use because it looks like some of the buildings in the “mustang photo” are drawn with paint(blue building).

lol, yes, as in a drop background. Which amusingly enough are usually, or look, painted. Please take an art class sometime.

Im telling you right now, Josh is never gonna go for using random pics submitted by owners. And right fully so. Its the first thing people see when they log on, it cant look lame and unprofessional. Hell i dont even like the pics of Newman and Choda’s car. (we kinda rushed it) The people people whose cars are up there now are people that I happen to know and had pictures of. Sorry thats just how it went. I will be available to shoot cars all summer. However it will be on the basis that we are going to do a real shoot and create a full set of photos. I’ll say this now and I’ll probably say it in other threads before the seasons start. Id rather not waste my time to meet someone out somewhere to do one photo so you can have your car in the header. That being said anyone who would like to pre-arrange a shoot can contact me and we can set something up for as early as you wanna drive your car.

not to bash ian. but it took at least ah hour to get one picture that he liked of the mustang.
i think onyx or whoever is doing this selection process needs to be more open minded.
every picture doesn’t need the “fish bowl” effect. rolling highway shots would be cool as well.
but i doubt anyone that wants a pictures wants to spend an hour if not more of driving their car around just to get 1 good worthy picture of being at the top of the forum.
yeah it would be cool to do a photo shoot and get some nice pics of your car but to the average person spending that amount of time to do so would be boring.
again not bashing on ian or anything because he is a perfectionist when it comes to selecting pictures.
different varieties of high quality pictures would be cooler than using the boom thats attached to the car.
