notice that the runway is undamaged
i know someone wants to say "well the plane wasnt moving that fast by the time it was within like 5 feet of coming to a stop … but … um … considering the plane weighs 168 tons empty, id say it prolly should have left a scratch, even if it was only moving at 2 mph

Runways are very hard and can handle very high loads of weight per square inch

As Deuce said, a form of high density concrete is used for airport runways. If they used the regular stuff that’s in the roads around here, it would most likely crumble instantly.
I thought it would have gone through more of the tires and rims than it actually did. A good :tup: to over-engineering!

my dad has been to the testing facilities where they make landing gear for boeing. that combined with his uncanny nerdy knowledge of engineering made him **not** surprised the landing gear held up fine.
