# Pink Fluid

Hey guys, I have my car in storage and the other day i noticed a small amount of pink fluid underneath the car, it’s a KA so if you guys have any idea what it could be it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Radiator fluid or windshield washer fluid?
Did you check its consistency? Could be oil?
Start the car up on jackstands and look around underneath.

This was the first time since owning the car that i noticed it, and i’ve had it for about a year and a half. Thanks for your input, i’ll check the areas that you listed.

Pink fluid… PINK would be washer fluid… RED or a very dark pink would be auto tranny fluid. Which on a KA is also used as power steering fluid. If its a HICAS car you may have blown one of the lines that run to the rear rack.
Just a though where have you ever seen pink radiator fluid or engine oil??? Links would be helpful, I’m pretty curiois about that.

FYI, Toyota uses a redish pinkish colour coolant, known as “long life.”

Thanks for the response Dustin, my car is a 5 speed and it is a reddish pink so its probably my HICAS line. Is it a big deal thats its leaking? or should i just ignore it? Thank you.

Obviously fix it as it deals with your powersteering, and as it leaks more you will run dry in your PS resevoir… Means Very Bad.
P.S correct me if im wrong.

if its a manual its probably doesnt use automatic tranny fluid … manuals usually use a gear oil … and ya gms use reddish pink coolent and you can use auto trans fluid in ur power sterring but it probably has green coolant in ur rad and runnning ur ps pump dry is very bad

My power steering line as leaking to , but i had no pump and it leaked for 5 days after i bought my car… and it stayed on the road even through rain, so you can use tranny oi as PS fluid?

Really… I thought the long life stuff was Orange. Guess its been a while since I was under the hood of a newer car.
Don’t run your PS dry it will burn out the pump in a hurry! Easy fix for a leaky hard line, slip some hose over the offending area and clamp it on both ends until its warm enough to replace the line properly.
Just for future reference as some of you seem confused, the 240SX, at least the 89-94 and I’m assuming 95-98, call for ATF to be used as PS fluid. It is very common on alot of cars.
