# Police Laser

They typically aim for the plate as it reflects the best and therefore can get you from a greater distance. Laser (as long as they can hit you) has like a mile range so yeah, you’re pretty much fucked.
As for avoiding it, like already mentioned, get a jammer. They’re legal and they actually work. The point is that it gives you some time to slow down. Detector goes off and jammer saves your ass. You slow down and turn the jammer off so the cop can get a reading. He just thinks he has bad aim.

I actually do the same…even when I had the RX-7. But having a detector/jammer for the times you aren’t paying attention or are screwing around is really nice…

well yea nice when asshating but cruise control is my best friend he is a good guy and has got me out of many o tickets… it could also be that i have lost my licence far to many times and cant afford it anymore … im trying to get pts off not more on…

cant avoid laser. And if you do get a jammer that works which I doubt, the cop will prolly just get pissed and write u a ticket anyways. Cops can still write speeding tickets w/o laser or radar\>

Radar jammers are illegal, not laser. Radar is regulated under radio frequencies, laser is light and isn’t regulated by the FCC (while radar is).

How does a laser jammer work? I can see a radar becuase you just are sending out bogus frequencies which confuse the gun but what about a laser since its a straight shot and uses light?

a laser jammer will send back like 200mph not 85… but you will get pulled over anyway

I still dont know how it sends back since its a confined beam that changes its wavelength. Not like a radar what can just send bogus signals.

fwiw I used a police laser gun to check speeds of the traffic.
I noticed that on darker cars it takes about a full second to get a reading. in that second you can easily knock off 5mph to take you down to a reasonable speed
If you’ve ever been driving with a v1 and you get lasered you will notice how long it alerts you for, how ever longit goes off for is how long it took him to get a reading

Intresting. I do know that my radar detector will alert for laser when another car gets hit near me. Somewhat of a warning but if its you getting hit, your pretty much fucked.

if you want to avoid it (without a jammer) keep to the right. 9 times out of 10, they’re shooting @ people in the hammer lane.
of course this only works in semi-busy to rush hour traffic. if’s it’s 2am, you’re fucked

I now only speed on back country roads, where there is most likely NO cops, speeding on any thruway is just dumb now adays, there is so many friggen cops.
if you are on a long trip (5+ hrs) doing 7-8 over the speed limit will actually get you there an hour sooner depending on distance, and usually when you get hit with laser you can drop your speed down enough to where he won’t touch you

while that is true about your time savings no all of us see it that way. For example work sends me to long island. that is a pretty long drive. so instead of doing 65 or 70. the gas pedal stays on the floor for the entire drive and I proceed at 96mph. Stop once for fuel and hammer down again.
The time savings is significant. I don’t pay for gas and I don’t get paid for travel time. So I leave late at night and arrive just in time for the morning meeting. FYI it is about a 9 hour drive going near the limit.
My point is that laser is a pain in my ass. Driving in a chevy express it take about 1/2 a second before laser locks. My SHO takes significantly longer from what I have noticed on my V1. A laser jammer will be a purchase I will be making in the near future. On a side note FUCKING T-up GM for putting insane brakes on the express vans
