What kind of rim damage can be done by an alignment hardware? A little while ago I got an alignment at Goodyear. I had my summer rims removed and my winter tires installed. I noticing when detailing the rims before storing them for winter, I saw a little dent like the size of an end of a paper clip on the lower rim limp. I noticed when they do the alignment, the pins went between (behind) the rim lip and tire. I don’t think the alignment hardware caused it because I looked over each rim after the job. Your horrible wheels, that are beyond saving, were not damage by alignment tools, just poor taste. ---

The lugs they use most times clamp on the inside of the outer lip, the area you listed. They use force pushing outward from the center to hold themselves in place. They can dig into the aluminum. There are adapters so that the heads can clamp onto the outside of the rim softly ---

It is possible for a rim to be damaged from alignment heads. ---

I found the same marks in my wheels after I got my alignment also. I guess thats what I get for taking it in with my summer wheels instead of switching my winters on quick. ☹ ---
