i used the craftsman suicide sticks to do the front springs when i lifted my jeep, (although i was unable to use an impact gun due to the placement of the head of the bolt) they worked fine for me but were a complete pain in the dick to use by hand with a 15/16" wrench, but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t shitting myself the entire time using them. ---

I’ve used them successfully before too. But I’ve also had one pop out and was lucky enough that my hand was in the right place to not get hit and the vehicle caught the spring before it could really get going and hurt someone. I literally thought I was going do die in that split second and swore after that job was over I would never use those things again. ---

I’ve used those several times with great success. Every forum I’m on, whenever the subject of spring compressors is brought up people always have something to say about the product you suggest and how its bad. Of course they make a suggestion that another person then says is a bad choice, it is a never ending cycle. Every time you compress springs there is always a risk involved, just use common sense you will be fine. ---
