Well since the ‘take your car to the track’ scene has been growing rapidly in Ontario over the past few years, I thought it’d be cool for everyone to post up which track events they went to, what they thought of them, how many tires they used, what they destroyed and whatever else they might want to share.
So heres my part of the deal.
2007 Season Summed Up - Track Events and Tires
Heres the track outings I’ve attended, and the tires I’ve used, I kept track of all the tires I’ve used, so this should be more or less accurate. I’ve also destroyed a sideskirt somewhere along the way, worn down two sets of front brake pads, thats about it. I found Speedstar lapping days, DMCC amateur competition, and DriftOps events to be most satisfying and worth it. This could get into a big discussion of who makes best track days but its 5am and I just dont feel like it.

7. June 23rd Sunset Speedway Drift Expo

And the grand total is (if I added them right in my head): 92 tires used up (or melted, shredded, torn apart, and blown) in the 2007 track season during 17 track outings.

Destroyed front HPS brake pads (literally melted).
1. June 9th Lapping Event 6pm-9pm Battle Endless

All 4 tires got destroyed, HP+ pads held up way better than HPS.
1. June 24th Lapping Event Speedstar

Destroyed F tires, rear lasted another week on streets.

225/45/18 F - Potenza S03

Still rolling on these tires currently.
All grip for me for the 2007 Session, not a single drift event…
My experience: Battle Endless wasn’t the best, too many n00bs going slow and not signaling to let you pass, not a single car passed me. Speedstar was much better, n00bs let me pass and some guys actually passed me, giving me better competition.

Oct. 14th GRIP DAY at Dunnville Autodrome.
Tons of fun. Been to too many drift events, I really enjoyed it. Even got to drive a bit, not in my car since it sucks and would break.

\*This setup had way too much front bias, I should’ve ran with HP+ all around.
Overall, it was a great season for me. My front tires are officially done. ☹

This was my first year of taking my car to the track.
Started with the SVTOA driving school at Dunnville in my stock '01 Corolla. Had a great time learning the lines of the track and being introduced to toe/heel shifting. Finished the event without any serious wear on the car.
My second event was a HADA autoslalom event in Brampton where I didn’t embarass myself too badly and had a great time meeting more people. This was my introduction to the 240sx group and lead me to…
Fobwall’s grip day at Dunnville. I improved on the line I learned at the SVTOA driving school and glazed my OEM brake pads. There was still some rubber on my 3 year old Hydro-edges but just barely. I figured I had enough to last until the winter and didn’t plan on any more track days.
Then I had an offer to use some old tires that were laying around to get back on the track at Fobwall’s next track day. My new brakes were working fantastically and my winter tires were delivered so I knew that I wouldn’t have any troubles with tires. What I didn’t do was check my oil levels so when I was downshifting into turn 1 I ended up throwing a rod.
Now I’m paying off my replacement engine (I resisted the urge to get a 2zz) at a crazy interest rate because of my poor credit rating. I figure to have the engine paid off in time for the spring autocross and slalom events. I will be staying away from lapping days until I get a toy car that I can afford to be without for some time. The two weeks without my Rolla were very hard to deal with.
Overall, it’s been a great year and I’m looking forward to getting back to the track. Thanks to all the folks who have encouraged and supported my time on the track. Even with all the smack talk (possibly because of all the smack talk) this is a great group of drivers.

Dude, I almost had you! I spent $55.80 but I idled away over $6800 in gas in 2007 at the Woodbridge location alone.
Next year I am installing a hydraulic e-brake for crazy fast hardparking.

I had a great season, went out to shannonville about 5 times, dunnvile another 4-5 times, mosport 2 times.
Now with the rx7 sold, i made room for a new toy which i picked up couple days ago. You’ll be seeing me next season in my Pulsar GTiR 🙂

went out couple of time with St. LAC (St. Lawrence Auto Club) for autocross, mainly to picton airport and shannonville. it was a blast.
1st event I went with snow tires, and slide all over the place. then I went with michelin hydroedge after that. I know it’s all season with shitty grip, but it was cheap and the only one I own and it came with the car when I bought it. best achievement was I was faster than one of the S13 with sticky tires and coil over and better exhaust at one of the shannonville run. my only mod at that time was took out all the junk in my trunk and ractive tornando air filter.
then I learn that 23 years old stock suspension and bushing sucks balls…my michelin lost all its grip after the 2nd run. but as long as it’s cheap I shall be happy.
next year I shall do better, hopefully with a new set of suspension. and maybe better tires. we’ll see, if not that’s fine. my current setup giving me enough joy and fun.

Last season was awsome. The S14 is finally coming together. Have some wrinkles to iron out. The civic was a monster!! Took third place over all in time attack in my division at CSCS with that SOHC non vtec 1.5L. I spun a bearing and snapped a rod at the last Shannonville drift event however. I kinda ran it all day without bnothering to check the oil level…Ooops. it still idled like a champ, even with the soft ball sized hole in the side of the block.
2008 is almost here!! Woohoo
