kansas, you probably have a decent knowledge of guns… why is it that some brass manufacturers put a cannelure half way down the case? what’s the purpose of this? ---

I have no idea honestly, Id really like to get into reloading and learning more about ammunition and everything that goes along with it. I never even noticed the two crimps until you said something, and after checking out my rounds its only the Pow’r Ball ammo that has it. ---

after thinking about it a little more i’m pretty sure it’s to prevent bullet setback in rounds that do not crimp the bullet. i know after you chamber a round a few times in a semi auto if it’s not crimped it may progressively seat the bullet further and further into the case. i do a little shooting and reloading but more towards the hunting end of the spectrum. i reload not to save money but primarily for accuracy ---

I dont really care about the cost effectiveness more just the scarcity of ammo around here. ---
