# Power supply + Nvidia PCI-e card

I just got a 6800GS card yesterday. I went to put it in my PC and it kept BSOD and restarting before Windows would load. A bit baffled I discovered that I need 2 power connectors to power up my GPU. Since my PSU only had 2 power lines, I took off the power from my 2 DVD drives to power my card. The video card has a 6-pin power connector (thus needing 2 separate power inputs; each power input is a 4-pin)
Question is this. . .and I am certain there is one, but what is the term for a power cable splitter off of a power supply? If not, are there Male-Female adaptors? I found some power coming off of my MoBo powering my fans but they only have male connectors and the vid card needs female connectors ☹

uhm… if you dont have any spare 4pin connections left on the psu… you probably have like a 200watt’r… which will slowly kill your whole machine.
get a decent power supply… atleast 350 watt… antec.
no cheap brands… you can get a 500 watt for $15… and you can get a 500 watt for $150. you get what you pay for.

yeah do not get a cheap ps, antec or thermaltake are the best.
my psu came with tons of connectors, so like above its prolly an older ps with limited connectors.

I made my own machine :X The PSU came with the case (Aspire) so it is a cheapy. I am looking at Antec and Enermax brands on [Newegg.com](http://Newegg.com) with a Modular setup and SLi connectors.
CPU: AMD 3200+ 939
RAM: 1GHz
MoBo: I forget ; ;

what brand is the card?? do you need a pci-e power connector it has 6 pin, 3 on top 3 on bottom, or do you needa cd rom power connector(molex) or its it the floppy disk type connection, and by the way you need a 350 watt or better psu for these cards.

Brands i’d trust…
Fortron/Sparkle, Enermax, Silverstone, OCZ, PC P&C, Zippy, Seasonic,antec,thermaltake.
400+ Watts is what you want,some of the brands I listed are pretty high end but If I was on a budget and wanted to go modular i’d get the OCZ modstream.

I love my ocz and after buying it and realizing my old ps was the cause of alot of problems I wish I would of nought a good one to start with.

The connector is a 4 pin connector with 1 dummy slot. I’ll just get a PSU \>:3
