Co-worker’s father died. I’m going to the wake in a little bit. I don’t want to be disrespectful. The only wake I’ve ever been to was my grandmother’s ~4 years ago. Obviously, I knew what to do while I was there. What can/should I do at this one? Can I talk to girls there? Do I have to pay my respects to the deceased? (I’m not overly religious, and have no idea any sort of prayer to recite while I’m in front of the casket. I could MAYBE pull off the Lord’s prayer in my head.) I’m dressing mad fly, so I’m not sure to as the proper etiquette to display when all the grandgirl’s and nieces are approaching me. what can i say to the guy and his family? I don’t want to say “I’m sorry” or something weak and chintzy. ---

dress however, (dont wear a lime green pimp suit). pay respects to the family, if you didnt know the guy close you dont have to pay respects to him. You can talk to whoever. I’ve been to enough of these already. ---

lets see ur asking if u can talk to chicks there but are worried about what to say to the relatives? might as well stay home if ur asking these questions ---

ugh. I would like to know this too… a co workers mother passed away… and I went to the wake… I shook the co workers hand, said I’m sorry then left. I didn;t know what else to do ---

Say “I’m sorry for your loss” to the family and smoke outside. I’m pretty sure those are the only requirements. ---

Don’t pay your respects to the deceased. You didn’t know them, why whould you? You’re there to support your coworker. On that note, don’t be a bag and try to pick up girls at a wake. Have a little class. ---

what no… No place is better to pick up chicks is at a wake… Its the easiest way to see who is single and who is available… They always bring their signif other if they have one… See a girl by her self make a friend get a number… and steal her jeans ---

Walk in with a bottle of Tequila in your hand and ask why everyone is so bummed out. Proceed to “pour one for your homies” directly into the casket. The more asses you grab on the way, the better. Guys, chicks, whatever. ---

why would you go to your coworker’s father’s wake if you don’t know him? I don’t see how it’s even appropriate for you to be there. ---
