this is true, on the F-100 its headers with the flow master right under the cab, the pan head has " straight pipes " on it,both shake shit in the house most of the cops are amazed im not in/on a honda/rocket, but when i was in the integra, i had a header, full 2.5in cat back it was\>96dbwithout that silncer witch i had in anyway i still got a ticket its bullshit

theres a big sign at the HAMBURG exit of the thruway that says Noise limit 90 db.
Ive never seen one of these signs any where else but its right before the toll booths Im assuming the houses right behind the row of trees there have complained about the noise the thruway exit makes. with Engine braking Semis & Loud cars speeding away from the toll booths.
That is damn funny the guy was going to give you a ticket for a pop can exhaust.
I had a discussion a few weeks ago with a state trooper (my eventual brother inlaw to be) because he was giving tickets left and right for snowmobiles with “pipes” or louder than stock exhausts. and the limit for them is 90 db. He has a meter. Not many police do but hes a DEC cop. and thats what he is payed to do. GIve tickets to loud sledders.
Its good to hear you got out of it Jeff. Chuck had the same thing happen to him by the lackawanna tolls. He passed a Db test. onsite. with the same muffler. its because it has a huge Chrome Tip on your import that your getting harassed. especially at 1:30am.

actualy, on my end, i get the smaller of the 2 images that 01audis4 posted, and then next to that is a red x, which would probably be the larger version that 01audi is seeing
probably a gitch in the forum software thats dispalying bith image links, and 01audi still has the 2nd image in his cache folder

if he did write you a ticket you think he woulda wrote “pop can is excessively loud” , Plead not guilty and then tell the judge you switched to diet pop b/c its quieter. Just be glad he didnt issue a tint ticket , this thread could easily have been the other way if he felt like being a dick

A tint ticket would’ve meant nothing to me, because they are legal on my car anyway.
That said, I know I’m lucky.

It isn’t really chrome when it’s clean, and right now there is about a 1/3 inch of dirt/salt on it.
I assure you, it isn’t shiny.

I live across the street and yes the Subaru is loud, but I enjoy it. Mostly because I am no longer the only guy with the noisy import in the neighborhood. I am sure it is driving the guy next door to me nuts. He is always making comments to me about how he can’t believe I pay $ to make my cars “noisy.”
I think part of the problem is the fact that your exhaust has that “pop can” look to it. I never get bothered by the five-0, and I think it is due to my tips looking OEM.
