I have a one year old truck up for its first inspection. I cracked the passenger side mirror. The glass is still there, it just has a crack in it. It wont pass like this but rumor has it that if i remove both mirrors it will pass. True? I searched but im not sifting through pages of posts. I dont care if you like it or not. ---

If you have a driver mirror and a rearview mirror you do not need a passenger mirror. I only say this because like 15 years ago my brother bought a ford escort new and it had no passenger mirror from the factory. ---

Not just the glass has to be removed. The entire mirror assembly has to be removed from the door. ---

if it helps you can buy universal stick on mirrors to go over your cracked one. They are cheap. ---

Remove the assembly, pass. and if the place you take it to gives you a hard time ask them to look up the regulations on their inspection computer. ---

A piece of universal ‘glass’ cut to fit and taped on has served me well in the past. Remove post inspection. ---

correct, rearview and drivers side exterior required(without cracks). if removing pass exterior entire assembly has to be gone. ---

I would’ve thought if it came from the factory it had to be there, like seatbelts in the 50’s and early 60’s. Good to know. ---

I recall that the vehicle must have the mirrors “as it left the factory” ---

Dropped my wife’s suv off for an inspection this morning and just got a call that it was ready to be picked up. So much easier when you just properly maintain your damn vehicles. 🙂 ---
