ok so i got this car that im trying to get rid of it, its pretty much a gutted hatch and im wondering if i bring it to the junk yard to have it scrapped, do i need the title of the car? ---

Yes. You have to sign the title over to the junkyard or whoever picks it up. ---

No, you do not need the title. As far as I know whoever takes it there just needs to sign off that it is not stolen and everything its on the up and up. It may depend on who takes it and where, but my friend that works for a tow company never needs the title. I’ve had him take a few and we’ve never needed them before. ---

as long as its valued under around $500 all they do is copy your lic. and have u sign it. u can still get some money out of it by selling it to a scrap yard.🙂 ---

well someone from the board is gonna help me out with getting it over to the junkyard, the car doesnt have any front suspension so its not gonna be tooo easy to just take it ---

No You don’t need a title for a shell (i’ve turned in two of them) No You don’t need a title for a parts car (with drivetrain - I’ve turned in 1 of those) If You are _selling_ the junk car to the yard, You need a title. (i’ve done that twice) All places are different and some don’t care - situation dependant. There are governing bodies, but in the end some places are just looking at the scrap metal (in the case of stripped parts cars). $0.02 ---

Call Twin Village Recycling 683-5373 They tow for free and the car doesn’t have to be rolling. They’ll just drag it onto the flatbed. No title needed, but they probably won’t give you anything for it (without the motor or tranny). ---
