True, if you have a cheap detector. The 8500 hardly picks up any false signals. The only traffic sensors I pick up are the ones where it actually tells your speed. My old cobra picked up the signals of even signs that were telling you road work ahead on the electronic signs.

true that.

CB is good too. As for lasers PA cops don’t use them yet, good thing.
When I was in MD cops there wer using lasers, tagging people as they were just cresting a hill. About 5 seconds before I saw the cop (crested the hill), the detector went crazy. Not enought time to slow down if I had been speeding.

BOTTOM LINE NO detector is going to beat laser. Best bet it to go with a cb for that.

This is what the guy from Team Polizei used to beat the record for crossing the US. He is a famous gumball rally guy, picks up awesome.

I use a 8500 X50, after spending days reading reviews on both the X50 and the V1, and radar roy comparisons, i came to the conclusion that both have their good points and both have their bad points… but both are excellent detectors…

The 8500 X50 was $100 cheaper, and i could buy it locally… so i bought it at best buy…

It has saved my ass quite a few times…

Either way you cannot go wrong.
