Sorry for the mass of pictures and gobs of text…
The telescope is an Orion XT8 classic Dobsonian, nothing too fancy, but definitely a great scope. These were all taken from my backyard in Tonawanda near the Blvd mall so terrible light pollution is expected. The telescope in this area has a max USABLE zoom of about 300x which is great for the planets. That requires a small exit pupil eyepiece (6mm) making pictures with a regular camera impossible. You will notice max zoom used is a little under 100x. With the 8" aperture of the scope, that is plenty to see crystal clear images of distant galaxies and planetary nebula. Too bad I cant get those on camera.
First is a nice shot of the northern lights from the naked eye. The sun erupted in a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection which happens rather frequently) late in October, and a few days later us living in the northern hemisphere received a spectacular light show…as far south as Georgia.
Here is a shot of Jupiter (brightest “star”) on the same night near the end of the show. The spotlight is from Frightworld haunted whatever.
Here is Jupiter and a few moons with my 25mm eyepiece, so 48X.
Over exposed Jupiter and some moons passing through my EP.
This is a 48x of the double star cluster in Perseus
Here is a naked eye shot of Cassiopeia (upper left), Pleiades cluster (small mass of stars toward the right), and the location of the double cluster from the above pic circled to give an idea of the light gathering ability of the scope. Again taken at the end of the northern lights show, so a hint of green is visible along with some clouds passing by.
Naked eye full moon with a perfect 360\* halo extending about 60\*. Quite rare to see one that large.
And the same full moon with the 48x EP
Half moon with 25mm EP and 2x Barlow = 96x zoom + 20% light filter for contrast
Here is a shot which I guess you would call extremely afocal since you see the EP also but looked great.

So did the snake eventually eat the frog or no? Sux to be either 1) eaten alive or 2) almost eaten alive only to be spilt back out

I’m not sure, I just took the feild back to the house and went to work till 9pm and washed it due to the mud sticking to my rims making my car shake horribly. lol
