I like Advance in Hamburg. The last time I went to Autozone was the time I had to go back twice for a $10 refund they promised me. I paid for a part with cash from my own pocket for my boss, and since the company usually has an account with them, they couldn’t figure out how to reach into the register and hand me $10 back. I went back in an hour, still no money. It didn’t show up at work that evening as promised either. I think it came the next week. Seriously, $10, you’re going to piss off a customer for life over that? ---

oh and last week… i wasn’t sure if i was having an alternator/battery problem on the 240, so i called autozone on french road (west seneca) to make sure they had the machine to check it, they said yep any autozone can do it just bring it down… i show up ~5 minutes later, and the SAME GUY i just spoke to on the phone goes “oh…yea our machine is broke…so we can’t test it” :bloated: Napa is the only place i have good luck with, so they get all of my business…everyone else just sucks at life for some reason! ---

Yeah pep boys FTL, I go there more than I want to. Good selection of shelf products, but never any sales, just mail-in suck my asshole rebates. So their prices are the highest. I think that’s changing though because they have 5qts. of syn-tec and a filter on sale for $25, no mail in. I almost fell over. In North buffalo, just go up the street to napa. ---

I only go to Pep Boys for convenience. Their staff sucks. I needed to get some loose washers, etc. Pep Boys had the pack for $3.99. Home Depot right behind them had the same quantity for $.99 I would go to Napa and Car Quest in the same area, but they are usually closed after 6pm. And I’m not usually elbow deep in work and need a part until after 6pm. ---

I just go to Pep Boys for cleaning shit because the one on Elmwwod is close by. I would never go there looking for parts and it is way Ghetto in that shit hole… ---

I deal with one person only at the Transit/Walden Autozone…Adam, i have known him all my life and he knows his shit…I will wait a day if i have to get a part if he is not working… On occasion Ill goto Advance on Ridge where Kevin Andy and Brett work ---

fuck pep boys on elmwood… i really really hate that place… i bought spark plugs for my m3 from there… kid pulls em up in the computer and brings em over… i say great peace out… pull apart my motor for ~ 30 minutes and find that the spark plug they sold me is WRONG… so i take the one from the motor out… and the ones they sold me, and the ones they sold me the threads are OBVIOUSLY bigger and differant… so i take it in there and im like you sold me the wrong ones… he looks up and says nope, computer says these are correct. i show him the spark plug i took out of the car, and he says well that one must be the wrong one… cuz this is right… i took all 6 out of my bag and dropped em on the counter and demanded a refund… when the manager asked whats up i told him… .and he was like oh yea… he does that a lot… im lik WTF why is he still here then… and i got this 10 dollar an hour managment shrug from this idiot… Last time i am going there for parts… autozone out on main st is the worst ghetto trash place EVER… they have 1 guy working any time i am in there ---

I like napa the one on the BLVD always has what I need, and the guys there seem somewhat knoladgeable, unlike most places that hire youg worthless tools. NAPA FTW ---

I went to pep boys once for an inspection, only because it was sunday and they were a block away, anyways they failed my car on inspection saying it needed over 800 in work so i looked at the repair suggestions they provided, new ball joints, tie rod ends, side marker bulbs, 4 way switch, etc… after reading this i wanted to explode considering i had the week before replaced the ball joints and tie rod ends, my car DID NOT have sidemarkers so it didn’t need bulbs for them? and the 4 way switch magically disappeared while in the garage cause im pretty sure it came with the car when i bought it… i will never go back there EVER!!! ---

pep boys by McKinley should be burned down. I also hate the autozone in hamburg, i always keep going up the road another 1/8th mile to the advance, the people there are not complete retards. ---

Honestly I worked as a service writer there for over a year. The recommending wrong shit was short lived after the termination of certain techs. On a sunday there are 2 techs pat the dyke and jim the deaf guy.Both very honest and very thorough with inspections. If certain lights did not work for inspection they would suggest worst case scenerio to cover there ass.The parts people were fucking retarded.What do you want for 7 dollars a hour? the place is located in a shitty part of town where you deal with the most ignorant people in the world. for awhile they had alot of good people working there. We could not take it anymore and moved on from that place. Ask AUTUMNMARIE how it was to deal with the people there she was the store manager at that store for awhile. ---

I use three places for parts.lakeland auto on niagfallsblvd. napa wherle and carquest on transit. napa and lakeland are my favorite ---

alot of ppl are complaining about the pep boys on elmwood, i work at the blvd one… and im sure ppl have had their fair share of complaints with us too, but do we rank anywhere in here? understandably, the elmwood store employs the dumbest people imaginable. ---

i know of someone who works at the elmwood location that likes to “test drive”(torture test) the nicer cars after work is done… im not saying i dont like riding around in some of them but i would NEVER leave my car there for work EVER!!! ---

The last time I went to Pep Boys I bought headlights. I only interacted with the cashier and only went there because Napa was closed. Pep Boys did tie rods on a Monte Carlo I had 3 times before they did them right. They warrantied them but still. Its not that hard. Kenwood Napa for me. Like previously stated Skrapper is/was the man. Phil is kinda new, but he’s not afraid to ask one of the other guys if he’s unsure about something. Mark and Dave know their shit if their working counter when you go in. ---

I got some brake calipers from Pep Boys once…the one was fine, the other was missing some parts. Took 2 weeks of arguing with the manager to get my money back becuase they wouldnt give me the part. ---

well living in wheatfield, close to Niagara Falls limits your options for close good help. I usually just get everything at shops in Amherst on my way home from work. Autozone in the falls on the blvd only for oil, filters, brake clean, towels, detailing supplies and returning used oil. i will go to KS when needed if im at my friend’s house in NT working on cars, we will go to Advance on Niagara St in Tonawanda, never once had a problem there. 95% of the time i will now use Car Quest on Millersport, its right down the street from work, everyone there is good and if im calling for parts for the cars in the shop, i can just tell them what i want and to ship it, never even have to stay on the phone. I used to go to Pep Boys on NF blvd before Shawn left for any of my own stuff, he knew his shit and took care the customers. Used the Chevy dealer today though for a new t-stat, $12 aint bad for an AC Delco part ---

I’ve only been to the Pep boys over on the boulevard and the people there seemed alright, but I might head over to the one on Elmwood just to see how bad it is after hearing all these stories. Srsly though Napa ftw, I always go to the one on the island since it’s nearby and the people there are dependable. ---

You will see some older bald guy that seems to be lost in his own store, you will see one girl thats not too bad looking, and you’ll see one guy that is at least personable but only cashes people out. Oh ye, and one womand that I think is the asst manager that seems like she is completely miserable all the time. And you will see 4 or 5 technicians sitting in the corner making a ton of noise.
