If you walk up on the tracks it sets off the alarm. We approached from the woods, so it didn’t go off. I don’t think it actually calls the cops tho.

WTF is that?
And for some reason urban climbing/rappelling is far more interesting to me…
**_If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to them…_**

Wow I miss this. I took a lot of rappelling courses in ground search and rescue school when I was in high school. Really awesome experience using it to go up and down structures and gorges.

I did 2 pretty gnarly raps yesterday. Pictures from the gnarlier of the two are forthcoming, so I’ll just post about the tamer of the two at the moment.
This in an abandoned railroad bridge in Springville, NY:
I was alerted to it’s presence by jt76 (thanks ❤)
In order to get to it, we wound up blazing a trail through the brush. There HAS to be an easier way, but we didn’t know it.
I went with my buddy Dave (he took pics and also rappelled) and EVOLUTION VIII MR (ground/moral support)
The rappel wound up being about 190ft… After tying the anchor knots (5 ft of rope or so) we only had about 5 feet on the ground.
Anyway, pretty standard. Normal rigging, normal rappel. Just really high.
We got soaked trying to get across the creek on the return, but it was fun.
Anyway, here are the pics:
It’s usually pretty hard to grasp the height from pics, so check out this one. That’s me at near the bottom of the rope. Not even on the ground yet.
