Since gas prices are still going up :S which suxs. On a RB20DET motor they recommend to use premium gas which ranks at a 91 octane level. Has anyone tried to use 87 octane on their motor? Or is it a bad idea with the turbo?

u might get away with it in the winter, dial back the timing and the boost if ur planning on using 87. and dont floor it.

genreally, it’s not a good idea. if u cant afoard the gas, it’s time to get a slower car.

DONT USE 87…it should be getting 94+ octane booster…it might save u some money now but rebuilding after busting your ring lands will cost much more.
