> WHY. ugh. Why are you choosing a cobalt platform. Why are you going from SC to TC when your car came with a supercharger from the factory? When will people learn to quit modding their reliable Daily Drivers\>? IB4 you’re rebuilding your car and have a ton of downtime next season.
>
> Be smart, pulley, intake, exhaust, tune, maybe mod/replace the blower. BUT for the love of god, learn from other peoples mistakes. IE. DrDos, Turbols1, Chuck, and the millions of others who have gone overboard with their builds and wished they had moderate and reliable cars to drive throughout the entire DURATION of the summer.

LOL I’ve tried to beat this fact in so many times…it’s not happening, oh well learn be experience right ?

Edit: Plus the irony of anthony + cobalt + “rear” mount is fantastic lol, oh the fun we will have with this lol :gay:

what happened to this thread lol

I’m not too worried with it being my daily and I decide to turbo it. The LSJ engines are pretty stout and seem reliable. The trannys on the other hand…i’ve heard they’re shit lol

Just sell it and buy the new SS turbo. Here’s why:

1. Higher resale value in the long run as you aren’t putting a major mod on the car (e.g. replacing the sc with a turbo) and its newer

2. The tc cobalt makes a decent amount of power stock but a simple tune and turbo-back will wake it up quite a bit

3. You get more reliability and maybe a warrantee depending on the tune

If I could I would. I owe too much on the cobalt and won’t get what I need to pay it off. I’m not a fan of the LNF engines either.

😕

agreed…IDK…I just always have to be doing something.

Hopefully I’ll be getting a new job at a GM dealership and I’ll be able make double payments and get it paid off.

you’re silly if you go with a rear mount on the Cobalt man… there are plenty of aftermarket parts out there that will allow you to build a conventional setup which will be more efficient.

Log style manifolds can be found for around $200-250 bucks, aluminum mandrel piping kits for charge pipes are fairly cheap, the most difficult part is building a downpipe to mate to the turbo but it’s honestly not all that hard.

There is more room on my Cobalt in the rear than there was my Cavy and I was able to fit a t60-1 back there with external wastegate and dump.

Maybe you could trade it in to a dealer without going too much further into debt. Either way, everything I read about rear-mounts back when I was looking into them said it wasn’t worth it.

WHY DO SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES A TON OF RESEARCH AND FAB??!?!?! Especially when theres better/already proven ways out there.

WHY TRY TO REINVENT THE WHEEL?

stry’s car, with twin 38mm wg’s, both with 14lb springs was actually putting 11.5 lbs to the manifold. not too shabby for all that piping, and nothing a simple MBC couldn’t solve.

super inefficient when it doesnt need to be (i know it makes great power, but thats not the arguement.) on the flip-side, i have a 7psi spring, and i make 8.5psi on that. i will admit i could have probably went to a larger WG though. (48mm vs 44mm).

rear mounts can make power, but there is just no benefit to the OP’s case
