# Recommend me a good merchant service provider

For a small business (restaurant). Looking for a company with low rates obviously but also free equipment and good customer support (24 hour). I’d like to accept MC and Visa both credit and debit, prob. stay away from AMEX due to the ridic high fees.

What type of business are you running? Certain POS systems work better in certain environments. If you are really simple and want to do simple Debt/Credit payments in a shop environment, I have been setting up SquareUp which runs on an iPod Touch/iPhone for vendors. Simple and good rates however if you are a restaurant or doing high volume, there is other POS equipment that offers lower rates with a higher initiial investment.

Square up won’t work for me. My volume in terms of dollars wont be huge but the amount of actual swipes will be. I emailed Firstdata for a quote.
