# Redroof's MR2 Resurrection... Part III

So finally, this is it, my chance to dip into a competetive buildup. I’ve owned this car since late fall 2000, but it seems I’m still discovering new methods of suffering, breaking the car in ways Toyota never imagined.
The most recent part of the saga started with a near tming belt failure from a defective cam gear, and ended up with torn sheet metal and a severely bruised ego. The timing belt almost bought the farm due to an unbalanced fidanza cam gear that walked the belt into the rear cover, shaving it down like salami in a deli.

Two hundred dollars, an enormous amount of Dan Cech’s patience and two weeks later, she graced the streets for 48 hours, before being stuffed into a guardrail during a late drive home.
Fast forward to present, she now rests in my garage for the winter. Body damage extends from the front fascia all the way to the crunched rear quarter and broken taillights.
Plans include replacement of the damaged fender, fascia and door. Further, the agenda includes a stud welder to pull the quarter panel straight and fit wider panels onboard. I’m building her to compete in the Street Mod II class in Solo competition, so suspension revisions are the main focus of the project. Bodywork is only going onboard to fit larger rubber and lose some weight.

You just go through those cycles faster then everybody else Eric.
Welcome to the board, keep us updated, I remember how you tried to sell that thing to me a while ago, you’ve been through alot withit, you definatly deserve it running perfect.

BAH. So I just spent a shitload of money on front end parts to make her whole again. New fascia, new radiator, clamps, hoses, tie bars, bolts, strips, brackets, etc.
I’m drinking like a mofo right now just trying to forget it. At least she’ll be 100% structurally perfect in the front when i’m done.
Then we can bolt on the bigass carbon lip + spitter and the wide fenders.
Yes. I said it. That’s only the beginning.
