Quick question guys… I haven’t renewed the plate sticker on my vehicle for 3 years now and was wondering whats the procedure. Do i have to re-safety the vehicle? or just show up, pay $74 for the year and away i go MTO site doesn’t say much other then go to a Kiosk for more info. ---

Pretty sure you’ll have to do a safety and e-test before you get your sticker. Though, a simple call to the MTO would probably answer most of your questions 100%. ---

Ohh man you might be screwed. did you unplate your car when you decide to store it? MTO told me to come in a tell them when im storing it so they can unplate my car so when you go back to get a sticker they wont charge you for the full year. Good luck ---

^Thats an easy fix tho, you can just get a new licence plate for the car which is $20 Just call and find out. ---

if its fit status and plated youll just need an etest if its unfit youll need both ---

Almost certain you wouldn’t need a safety as long as the car has stayed under the same owner since you last bought a sticker for it. Emissions test is only good for one year, you’ll defiantly need one or you can buy a Temp sticker if your ownership says PAS-FIT at the top. ---

If the plates still on it, you just need an etest, insurance and pay the $74 for a sticker. (My bday is October, I normally put truck away until spring when I get new sticker and I normally don’t pay full $74 just whatever for the remaining months). I don’t know why you would EVER unplate a car… once that ownership says FIT it will be FIT until you sell it / smash it up. ---
