# Replacing ABS Module, 2000 Expedition

So the ABS on my Expedition has been broken for at least a year now. When the light first came on I replaced the rear diff speed sensor since it was cheap and a very common cause of the ABS light staying on. That didn’t fix it so I took it to a Ford mechanic friend and had them troubleshoot it and it turned out to be the main ABS module. Since it was stupid expensive and I never liked ABS in the first place, I just never fixed it.

Well, now the truck is my wife’s so I want it fixed. I found a great salvage yard online that lifetime warranties their parts and picked up a replacement module from another 2000 Expedition with 50k for $140.

Looking at the part it looks pretty accessible once I remove the air filter/intake tube. All the brake lines are going to it, a monster wiring harness that I had no problems unplugging when I was troubleshooting, and that’s about it. The only thing I’m concerned about is bleeding the system after disconnecting all those lines. Has anyone done this before? Do I just buy a bunch of brake fluid and start bleeding them like normal, farthest brake first?
