# Ricer wires, or just charge the damn battery?

Well, I finally got around to swapping the battery in my car, dropped in the Celica’s battery. Only problem is, the terminals are switched and I barely got the wires to reach. That and, I can’t use the mounting bracket to secure the battery this way. I definitely don’t wanna drive my car like this, as it is unsafe, but I’m pondering between two things. Go to CT or w/ever and get the “Ricer Red” battery wires in a decent length, and replace mine. Or, go to CT, buy a battery charger, charge up my stock battery while it’s out of the car, and pop it back in. (possibly even return said battery charger when I’m done with it :D)
Now, with the battery wire swap, I could always go with a higher gauge “performance” set of wires, but I don’t believe that gives any performance gains without a new ignition coil. Since I’m going SR anyway very soon, and that’s a distributor-less engine, it might be useless for me to get these “performance” wires still. Or I could be wrong, and the decrease in resistance will make a difference.

I don’t get it…why buy/loan a battery charger for your dead battery? Why not put the dead battery back in your car and jump it from the working (celica) battery with a pair of jumper cables…run the car for a while and the dead battery will be charged.

buy an optima yellow top, buy some decent 0 gauge audio cable, get some gold connectors, make ur own shiz and be done with it.

Well, we tried that a bunch of times, I just assumed that it’s not getting charged enough from just sitting there (my car isn’t insured yet), so I can’t take it for a boot on the highway and have it charge up that way.
-The Optima might be too much $ for me, but I’ll fab up my own wires like you said Greg, audio cable aint too expensive.

CT will charge your battery for free. but it sounds like it might actually be totally dead not just low on charge in which case you need a new battery. if you want to use the celica battery i suggest getting some [minimum] 4ga wire and a few terminals and run a battery relocation. if you are going SR, im assuming you’ll be getting an FMIC so you’ll need to move the battery anyway to run the IC piping.

Just go to CT and buy any battery that works. They are not that expensive. And if you say you dont have money, then work more. Or you can just charged it there as previously mentionedddd.

Well, I’m going “budget” setup on the SR this year and rocking the stock sidemount, but relocating the battery sounds like a great idea actually. I intend to rip out all the crap in the back, so I can fab up some mounts and stick the battery where the spare tire used to go, sorta keep the weight as low and as centered as I can.
And I had no clue CT did that… I’ll drive up there and get it charged as soon as I can.
